The study found that more Springfield locals (286%) than people across the country (20.6%) have been told by a professional that they have depression.
Additionally, 14.6% of Springfield residents had major mental distress in the last 30 days, 5.1% had suicidal thoughts in the last year, and 12.9% had used illegal drugs in the last month, according to the study. The national standards for these rates are 11.7%, 4.3%, and 10.1%, so they are all higher.
Springfield is also having a bad time because of a lot of social and economic problems. It was found that 25.8% of people in Springfield are poor, which is more than twice the national rate of 12.3%.
